Confirmed: Rock Band in October

Published By: Contributor   On: Thursday 31 Jul 2008 2:31 PM

They said they'd shout it from the rooftops, but it's sounded more like an embarrassed whisper. Rock Band is coming to New Zealand in early to mid October, but it's going to cost you.

It's not quite as bad as rumoured, but it's still pretty rough. Like in Europe, there is no bundle. You will have to buy the game separately, and then invest in the instruments. The game will be around NZ$120, with the instrument bundles as follows.

Guitar only: PS3/Xbox 360/Wii: NZ$99.95
Drums only: PS3/Xbox 360: NZ$179.95
Hardware bundle (Guitar/Drums/Mic) PS3/Xbox 360/Wii: NZ$299.95

So if you want the complete Rock Band experience, you are going to be paying NZ$520! If you want to exclude a bassist, or if you are a 360 owner with a Guitar Hero guitar (they don't work on the PS3), you can sneak it for "only" $420. That's more than a 360, for those of you who aren't paying attention.

So a month after Rock Band 2 is released in America, we will finally get our hands on Rock Band. Do you care, or is it too little, too late? Let us know below!

Update: NZGamer has been advised that this will be a one-off shipment and that stock will be extremely limited. So if you are going to take the plunge, don't hold out any dreams of waiting for it to come down in price.

For the record, there is no way in hell I'm going to pay this much for the game. Especially as there is only really one song on the track list that I want (Hysteria). I think I'll wait for Guitar Hero World Tour.

Any idea if this will be USB for Wii? Or will you need a separate Wii remote for both guitars, drums and Mic?

More like 'Too much, too late'. Saving for GH4. Anyone that spends over $500 on a game thats a year old is a fool.

Guitar Hero World Tour it is for me then - at least their gear is compatable with RockBand so if I want to, I can just pick up the game later. This is ridiculous!

Ridiculous, Harmonix can f*ck right off. GH4 ftw, or at least until we get any RB2 news (unlikely...)

The RB gear is all wired isn't it? Any idea if the GH: WT gear will be wireless/wired?

Haha f*ck dat. I'd be surprised if they sold ten copies of this game after all the wait and the ridiculous price. I could by like 6 new games with that amount of money.

120 (game) + 300 (hw bundle) = 420 not 520.

Yeah, the bundle only comes with one guitar. So as I said, if you want a bassist, you're going to have to cough up another $100. The only way your going to get around that is if you already have a 360 guitar from Guitar Hero. The PS3 ones don't work.
