Geometry Wars 2 Out Next Week

Available on Wednesday at the usual time, Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2 will be releasing for 800 Microsoft Points. A direct sequel to the Xbox Live Arcade smash hit, Geometry Wars 2 will offer new features, including six action-packed gameplay modes, new enemies, new scoring strategies, and a diverse list of exciting achievements. It also offers a multiplayer mode with support for up to four players.

The official features on Microsoft's official Xbox site are detailed as:

Action-packed modes: Unlock all six of these innovative and challenging modes -- Deadline, Evolved, King, Pacifism, Waves, and Sequence.
Multiplayer mayhem: Step up the intensity with four-player multiplayer. Versus, team, and co-op modes offer different types of challenges and strategies. Pick your ship and pwn the grid.
Achievements: Go for 12 entertaining and inventive ways to boost your gamerscore.
Geoms: Collect Geoms to increase your multiplier -- but act fast, they won't last forever!
New enemies: Shoot down all the usual suspects, then say "Hello" to new enemies that have found additional ways to hunt you down.

I still am a huge fan of the original Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved. While I was definitely happy with my copies of Perfect Dark Zero and Ridge Racer 6, it was Geometry Wars that kept me coming back for more. I'm definitely excited for the sequel, but at 800 points I think I might download the demo first to see just how much has changed. After all, I haven't even reached 1,000,000 points in the original yet.
