Almost the haze of a Rugby mad nation like NZ we often forget that Soccer is the number one sport in the world, but this isn't because of the World Cup or David Beckham. The game is played in well over 3/4 of the world. With the evolution of the beautiful game has come Street soccer, as in places like Brazil. So the natural progression for industry giant like Electronic Arts was to announce FIFA Street.

EA Sports announced at E3 they look to capitalize on this form of the game, and next year is scheduling the release of FIFA Street. FIFA Street will be the third sport to receive the "Street" touch, with NBA and NFL having a big following.

Anyway, back to FIFA Street, the game, like the NBA and NFL versions, will feature less players on the field, increasing both the speed and scoring of the game. Each team will consist of four players as they use a combination of freestyle moves and soccer flair to not only score, but score in style. The more moves you successfully pull off, from step-overs to pannas, your team will build up a special GameBreaker meter. Once the meter is full, you will then be able to unleash a show stopping move the likes will make even the most die-hard Real Madrid fan stand up and applaud.

The game takes place across 10 unique locations, from the Favelas of Brazil to the more urban courts of Amsterdam, and the more games you win, the bigger your rep gets around the world, enabling you to add some of the best international players to your squad to help you take control of the streets, and more importantly, the walls surrounding the streets

There is no word when we can expect FIFA Street to hit New Zealand in '05. But we at NZGamer can assure you it'll go off with a bang.

As always keep it locked to NZGamer and we'll keep you in the loop.
