Wii Music: Look Stupid, Have Fun!

At Nintendo's E3 event this morning, Miyamoto showed off his latest project: Wii Music for the Wii.

The game will let you take up one of 50 instruments and have your Mii play it along with you on the screen. Miyamoto himself came onstage playing the sax, as another person in the background used the Wii remote, nunchuck, and balance board to play the drums.

The game is obviously a departure from the likes of Guitar Hero - it doesn't rate you on your performance, and there are apparently no missed notes. We're a little confused as to how the actual gameplay will work - other than getting joy out of seeing your friends look really, really stupid - but it looks like more fun for casual gamers.

Miyamoto and his "band" played the Mario theme song, which looked pretty cool. It'll be interesting getting our hands on this baby. More details as they surface!
