GameCube owners eagerly anticipating the release of the sequel to the highly acclaimed Metroid Prime can now look forward to multiplayer. New details regrading Metroid Prime 2 - which is the tentative title for the sequel at the moment and may be subject to change - recently surfaced in a preview for the game in Game Informer Magazine.
While there was not a whole lot of new information published, it is known based on screenshots and some concrete reports Metroid Prime 2 will definitely feature multiplayer support. This will mark the first time a Metroid title has allowed for multiplayer. The mode looks to allow for split screen deathmatch battling for up to four Samus-like players. Players will be able to pick up weapons and morph into Samus's trademark ball-form during battle.
The game itself is said to look fairly similar to the original graphic-wise, which is by no means a bad thing considering the much acclaimed and beautiful visuals featured in its predecessor. However there are certainly some noteworthy enhancements here and there, as a screenshot in the magazine shows off heroine Samus hovering in a watery bubble which mirrors and reflects her translucent image, which supposedly looks stunning.
NZGamer will keep you updated on Metroid Prime 2 as new details surface closer to E3.
