Speculation is rife that Half Life 2, the most anticipated PC game this Christmas, may never see official release in Australia.
Australia has no 'R' rating available for computer and video games and as the game has been an 18+ rating in most of Europe, rumours are flying accross cyber space that Australians won't get a chance to purchase the game in their own country. If the game is deemed unsuitable for an M-15+ rating then the Australian classification board may refuse to give the game a rating, as happened recently with Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude.
However, the possible banning may have no effect at all as the game will be available for purchase via Valve's online distribution tool, Steam, which should keep many Australian gamers happy.
