Mario & Sonic Events Announced

For those gamers who grew up in the Nintendo vs. Sega days, the idea of both Mario and Sonic in one game is amazing. Of course, that's what we'll be getting with Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games--a very literally named matching of the two franchises against the backdrop of the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. Sega has just sent along word of what events will be in the game, and the list is...odd. Fencing? We finally get to see if Sonic can out sword-fight Mario with the Wii remote? Here is the list of events announced:

• Aquatics - 100m Freestyle
  
• Aquatics - 4x100m Freestyle
  
• Track - 110m and 400m Hurdles

• Track -100m and 400m

Skeet shooting with Amy Rose? Count me in. There will also be Olympic trivia, quizzes, mini-games (of course, it's a Wii title!), and facts and figures from Olympics past. This is going to be an odd game, but we remain hopeful.
