Electronic Arts and New Line Cinema have extended their agreement allowing the publisher to create games based on The Lord of the Rings movies.
The agreement now reaches throughout 2008, with EA scheduling a new title for release next year.
"We have a long history of making great games with EA and are thrilled to extend our long-standing relationship," commented David Imhoff, worldwide licensing executive at New Line.
"We look forward to working closely with EA to create even more compelling Lord of the Rings adventures in the future."
Electronic Arts has developed games based on The Lord of the Rings movies since 2001, and the films have grossed more than USD 3 billion worldwide.
"The Lord of the Rings is an incredible canvas to create epic games," commented Frank Gibeau, executive vice president of EA North America.
"We look forward to our next project with New Line Cinema and Tolkien Enterprises scheduled to ship in 2008."
Why they never turned the films into sprawling adventure games is beyond me...
