The latest issue of Gamereactor, a Swedish gaming magazine, has finally managed to confirm the existence of a planned sequel to the popular Sega Saturn hit NiGHTS into Dreams...
Rumors regarding the development of this title have stemmed back to earlier this month, when the official Sega website held a poll asking fans to choose which prior Sega property was most deserving of a next-gen revival. NiGHTS was chosen as the overwhelming favorite.
What later followed was a teaser image on the back page of the official Nintendo Magazine for the UK market, fueling speculation that such a sequel would be released exclusively for the Wii. Although the image featured only a silhouette outlined by stars, the focused character was unmistakably NiGHTS, the game's flying acrobat.

While the game may be receiving a sequel, one thing that has been made clear is that the game's original creator, Yuji Naka, will not be working with Sega on the project. In a brief conversation with CVG, Naka claims that he will have nothing to do with the game's creation should Sega be planning its development. Naka left Sega last year to form PROPE, an independent development studio containing a number of former members of Sega's Sonic Team.
