Monaco has announced the New Zealand launch dates for Pokemon Fire Red and Leaf Green, 24 September 2004. Both games are remakes of the original Pokemon titles with one major difference: they are compatible with Colosseum and the other GameBoy Advance Pokemon games!
The new games will have the following features:
- Hours of Gameplay: all new adventures and territories to explore.
- Tutorial Mode: 'Teachy TV' will bring players up to speed on the Pokemon series.
- Recap System: shows the last few events completed each time players load the game.
- Capture all the Pokemon: that's right you can capture all of them, more than 300 characters.
- Wireless Adaptor: allowing players to connect with other players without the use of cords.
- Union Room: allowing like-minded Pokemon fans to meet up, trade and battle one another.
- Repeat play supported: Once players complete the game they can return to achieve the goal of capturing all the Pokemon.
Multiplayer:
- Allows two on two battles.
- Compatibility with the original Pokemon Franchise: players can now catch and train the original Pokemon characters from Pokemon Red and Blue and use in Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire and Colosseum.
- You can currently connect a Pokemon Ruby or Sapphire GBA Pak to the Pokemon Colosseum GCN game to transport Pokemon between the two systems. However you will now be able to transport Pokemon between Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen and Pokemon Colosseum for the first time.
- You can connect Pokemon FireRed/LeafGreen to Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire and transport Pokemon between the games.
All up they sound like a good addition to the frachise.
