Final Fantasy VII
Published Sunday 28 Feb 2010 9:26pm | PlayStation 2When I was younger my brother got Final Fantasy VII for xmas one year and he played and I watched, but when I finally played the game I loved it and still do.
FFVII is about Cloud Strife, a mercenary for hire who claims he was a SOLDIER First Class. At the start of the game, Cloud joins an eco-terrorist group called AVALANCHE who are trying to stop the Shinra Electric Co. from harvesting Mako which is the life energy of the planet. The Shinra Electric Co. acts like the de facto world government which is located in Midgar. To back it up, it has two mercenary groups to keep people in line called the Turks and SOLDIER. When Cloud and fellow AVALANCHE members, Tifa Lockhart (Cloud's childhood friend) & Barret Wallace (leader of AVALANCHE who swears a lot & looks like Mr.T) infiltrate the Shinra building, they find Sephiroth, a former SOLDIER 1st Class who was supposedly died, after he found Jenova, an alien from another world.
They go on a journey to stop Sephiroth from going to the Promised Land to destroy the world. They are joined by Yuffie Kisaragi, a ninja from Wutai who loves materia; Vincent Valentine, a shape-shifting former Turk; Red XII, an intelligant wolf-like animal that can talk; Aerith Gainsborough, a flower girl from Migard; Cid Highwind, an airship pilot who loses his temper and swears a lot; and Cait Sith, a fortune-telling cat robot.
During the game, Cloud struggles with which of his memories are real or fake. To use magic, summons, and other abilities; you have to equip materia, crystallized forms of Mako, into slots in your weapons & armor. The materia can grow stronger after battle & unlock even more powerful forms of magic. Also, there are limit breaks. This limit breaks are last ditch desperation attacks. Some limit breaks can be obtained by meeting certain conditions like beating a certain amount of monsters with a certain character.
For a PSOne game that was released in 1997, the graphics are amazing. Also, the music is great. There are a lot of typos and spelling errors. You'll love FFVII despite the bad spelling and typos. This game was worth the $10 to download it from the Playstation Network. Now I see why people love this game so much. It's a classic game with a great story & unforgettable characters. I highly recommend that people either get this game from Amazon or download it for $10 from the Playstation Network onto their PSP or PS3. This game is definitely worthy of all the good reviews it has gotten over the years.
