Guitar Hero
Published Wednesday 9 Aug 2006 7:57pm | PlayStation 2Guitar Hero doesn’t feature any violence, sex, drugs, rock n’ roll or even push many polygons around the screen at once. It doesn’t have a whole heap of expensively produced FMV videos, nekkid ladies or characters with fleshed out storylines either. So why would you play this game? Because despite having none of these attributes, it still manages to rock – HARD!
The controller takes some getting used to and may intimidate some people to start off with, but after a few games you soon start to realise that mastering this huge chunk of plastic is half the fun. The notes soon come thick and fast, and any flaws between your eyes, brain and fingers quickly become apparent. Fear not though, after much, much practice the game becomes second nature – to the point you will often be amazed with what you just managed to do, yet you know you didn’t imagine it because your hands are red raw and starting to ache something tragic.
Guitar Hero is one of the most downright fun games of this generation. It might seem simple (before you play it) but it’s extremely addictive and I guarantee after putting down your controller in frustration, you’ll be picking it back up within five minutes. Thankfully the set-list for this game is perfect and there are some fantastic songs to rock out to.
