LocoRoco

Published Monday 7 Aug 2006 11:21am | PlayStation Portable

9/10

I have to admit, I've owned my PSP for a long time now and have played actual games on it a fraction of that time. I've found that the PSP titles I have played are simply lacking in innovation - many being PS2 ports that don't seem to work as well on a handheld system. LocoRoco is a breath of fresh air in my PSP collection - it's got the unique look, enjoyable gameplay mechanics, and music that will stick in your head long after putting your PSP down.

While most 2d platfom games you control a character who jumps, attacks and progresses through the level, in LocoRoco you take control of the world itself. With the help of the two shoulder buttons you can 'tilt' the world which in turn moves the little yellow blob, also known as a LocoRoco, through the level. Plenty of hidden areas can be explored and lots of extra hidden goodies can be found.

LocoRoco just seems to be one of those rare games that are a blast to pickup and play - for 5 minutes, or 50. I highly reccommend LocoRoco to PSP enthusiasts who are looking for a fresh title for your little handheld.
