Promotional Gaming Goodies

Back in 2004 I received my first ever NZGamer courier delivery. It was Second Sight, and I was incredibly excited by the prospect that someone would actually send me something - without having to pay for it - and I'd get to review it on the site.
Since then NZGamer has come a long way; many more deliveries came to my house, I relocated to Wellington, we found ourselves a dinky little office, we were sent many more games, and recently we moved into a much bigger and flashier office space.
I still get occasional games to review, although they no longer come to my house, instead I just grab them as the courier makes his daily deliveries.
In the past few years we've seen the launch of the next-generation consoles, and with it, a huge increase in the amount of 'promo material' we get. Sent by companies to promote their upcoming games, no two packages containing these promotional goodies are ever the same, making them incredibly intriguing to open and eye through the contents.
I'll take a few of the latest of these goodies we've received and share their contents. Who knows, perhaps we'll give some of this away?
LittleBigPlanet

Yes, a little sack-momento containing an embosed cardboard illustrated instruction booklet for the game, as well as a few media materials - videos, renders, artwork, etc - on the CD.
Motorstorm Pacific Rift
This one was received in an odd parcel when it arrived. It had a strange shape to it, and for some reason it smelt strangely like tires when opened. It contained a large poster, lanyard with Motorstorm cards, a few other themed posters/tickets, along with a media disk and copy of the game.
Resistance 2
Resembling a tin your grandmother would keep her digestive biscuits in, this tin contains plenty of reminders of the great battle; front page of a 1952 newspaper, aged photo, birth certificate, diary and media cd and copy of the game.
Seen any interesting packaging yourself? Let me know in the comments, and also let me know if this was at all interesting and you'd like to see more of these!

Was the copy of Secret Agent Clank I won off NZG with a PSP a promotional copy? It's in a neat sleeve I've never seen advertised anywhere before, I was very impressed.
I once won a PS2, game and accessories off Channel Z (radio station) eight or nine years ago. The package Sony sent me contained a PS2, a copy of World Rally Championship (the game being promoted in the competition), a flash bag, 2nd controller, memory card, PS2 pen, PS2 T-shirt, and a hundred-piece socket and tool set :)
I recieved the press release pack of God of War: Chains of Olympus from a really cool podcast/website. *wink wink nudge nudge* It was really fancy work. Has NZGamer ever recieved a Fallout 3 press release/goodie pack?
all the packages i've ever received were perfectly normal...
4 Stars!
my LBP one didn't come with the game though.
And here I was thinking media just receive a disk in a paper casing.lol. How wrong was I? Much.
I remember in places in Europe they used a very similar parody of that newspaper to promote Resistance 2. The major headline read: America under attack!
Could you imagine how someone would react to such a think not being in the know.lol
Anyway, the package was a clear plastic bag full of fine dirt. Once opened, in with the dirt was a small black envelope with the details of what ever it was they were pushing... Maybe it was a camera that was more rugged than others or something? I don't know... It was 11 years ago after all :P
That Resistance 2 kit is making me drool just a tiny bit
my most intresting promo copy i own/seen is my singstar vol 2 its epic. everything normal apart from disc which is white and has in big red letters not for resale promo use only. great......
Oh wow, that Resistance pack really is very sweet. The furthest in interesting packaging Ive ever seen is the Halo 3 Legendary edition, so Im easily impressed by all this stuff.
OH! And on that type of marketing, selling the music from the GTAIII series of games, I BOUGHT INTO THAT :D
