Wipeout Pure

You pilot fast hovercrafts through narrow, winding, futuristic tracks in a variety of landscapes. This game is just so great to look at that it really shows you what Sony's new handheld can pull off. And its not just mindless racing in this game, oh no - you can pick up a selection of weapons along the way - including mines, guided missiles, turbo boost and the devestating quake weapon. When you pick up any of these weapons your on-board computer announces it in a very authentic robot way.
The game just gets more and more fun as you progress, unlocking new ship classes and making you go that much faster, although this can be a burden at times - you'll have to master the art of slowing down before the corner if you want any chance of winning.
In previous WipeOut games there were pitstops along the way to recharge your shields and slow you down - but they are no more. Now you can choose to convert your current weapon into shield power, so it makes for some tough decisions of what you need more, your killing tools, or your protecting tools.
WipeOut Pure offers new skins, hovercrafts, music and tracks via content download. Add that to all of the singleplayer modes (single race, multirace tournament, time-trial, zone mode and free play mode) and you've got endless replayability. And in the slim chance you get bored with that you've got Wi-Fi multiplayer support for up to eight players.
All of this is complimented by 16 tracks of Dance/Techno music, which does get a bit repetitive but it sure makes the game unique. Pure looks good too, with great futuristic looking jumps, tunnels, bridges and other cool looking buildings that'll make you want to slow down and stare. The only bad thing is an occasional frame-rate issue lagging your race.
This is easily the best PSP launch title and an absolute must have for anyone with a PSP - if you get any game, get this one.
