First of all, watch this video:
The first thing you get is a sense of how big the scale actually is for this map editor. It looks like you could fit all of Halo1 into this giant map! In fact, editor is a bit of a loose term really, its more of a map creator, as you won't just be changing a pre existing map unlike some other game I can think of...

Another thing shown is how easily the environments are created, and how quickly. You can create mountains, rivers and other terrain all in a matter of seconds, then fill that terrain with all kinds of different plant sets. Make it a jungle or a thick forest. You can change the time of day accurate to the minute, to get the perfect look and feel to your map. I could probably write a whole blog on how great this feature alone is, but Ill save that for another time :P

It really is a shame that so many people bought Halo3, expecting Forge to have this level of detail and creativity. You can only edit existing maps in Forge, and even that is highly limited. Were you disappointed seeing how quickly you ran out of object room on Valhalla? In Far Cry2 you could probably fit 30 Valhallas in your map, each 10x as detailed. Fans will be immensly happy at the number of random objects available in the game, more weapons, vehicles, and user friendliness too.

I think the map editor will be the feature I will clock up the most time on. Every map you make can look different and interesting. But there is one thing wrong, I dont think the hype train is anywhere near as big as it should be. HYPE!!!
So, trade in your stinking copy of Halo3 and buy this. Ubisoft deserves your money way more than Bungie does, and you'll be getting a FAR better game. Oh dear.
