BioShock
Published Tuesday 20 Nov 2007 6:29pm | Xbox 360This was one of my most anticipated games this year I had pre-ordered it well in advance and whenever I read info about it I just wanted to play it more. I thought it would be the game of the year until well I actually played it.
The first few hours were great strolling aroung rupture taking out splicers and big daddy's but after theres few hours I began to notice something, there where only 2 enemies, Big daddy and splicers. There where ment to be different versions of splicers but they all looked the same and when they run quickly at you, you have little time to differentiate between them and they ended up being just a blur of a forgettable enemy. Big Daddys where fun at the start but after the 20th one they just got in the way of finishing the game faster and seemed like to much of a filler, not to mention that they got easier as you went along due to your upgrades, about 3/4 of the way through they became just a normal enemy called bouncers which took them from boss status to just normal enemy.
In my opinion bioshock's core objectives seem to be something out of Doom 1 they are always collect this, collect that and I always seem like I was collecting keys from some old 1990's fps. Also I found the that 2 hours into the game I gave up using the plasmids because it just took to long to kill each splicer uniquely and considering that splicers respawn it was just easier, faster and less painful to just shoot them. In the end Bioshock went from being a must have after reading previews and reviews to a avoid if possible after 2 hours of gameplay and I ended up finishing it only for the achievements and because I payed $100 for it and not because I enjoyed the game.
So I would only recomend buying it if you are bored and its the only game you haven't played that interests you. I give this game a 6/10.
