I have to say, I disliked much of the gameplay. It went a lot like this:
1. Block until your enemy has finished their combo
2. Unleash your own combo
3. Resume blocking
And I was dismayed to find teleporting enemies. They just weren't fun to verse and took away much of the immersion. You're reminded that you're playing a game when the enemy starts teleporting... and using magic spells against you. Furthermore, the combat became exceptionally silly a bit further into the game when you block bullets with your sword. Yes, it might be bad-ass to block one in every ten bullets but when you're just standing there holding down a button and managing to defend yourself from 9mm bullets traveling faster the eye can see you sorta just think "WTF, I'm just a character in God Mode". And for me, that's not what a hardcore game is. So this game is by no means 'hardcore'.
The bosses weren't intelligent either, they had 'Crash Bandicoot AI'. That's not gonna make me want to beat them. I just wanted to get the bosses over with, since they were so shit. The first boss was good though, since it was all about analyzing your opponents technique and then countering it.
I rated this game 7/10 though, because for all it's gameplay flaws, it was incredibly cinematic. It was enjoyable just watching the game being played and had absolutely epic moments. The cutscenes for the most part, were done to a very high standard. The cutscenes for me, served as motivation to keep progressing in the game. Because of it's cinematic presentation, it was also much more fun to play with friends. Sort of like watching a movie with friends -it's much more fun.
Overall:
Graphics -8/10
Gameplay -6/10
Sound -7/10
Value -5/10
