Capcom have announced a new game in Japan called EX Troopers. The game, according to a translation of Famitsu magazine, is intended to be a "beginner's action shooter", and is set in the same world as Lost Planet.

From Andriasang.com:

EX Troopers tells of the fight between the snow pirates and Akrid aliens on EDN-3rd. You play as Bren Turner, a young man who's come to the academy (the game has a school theme) from EDN-2nd.

Famitsu also introduces such characters as TeeKee, a female snow pirate who has the ability to communicate with the Akrid, and Gingira, a Vital Suit that's loaded with next generation AI and can communicate with its pilot. Gingira calls Bren "Master."

There's no word on whether the title is coming to the west, however a NeoGaf poster pointed out that Capcom have trademarked the name in America and Europe, which improves the chances that a translation is planned.

Currently 60% complete, the game is headed to PlayStation 3 and 3DS in Japan later this year.

Looks like it may be good for sh*ts & giggles, Lost Planet 2 was fun, although it does look kinda... basic.
